Description
Ron Boender is a successor of Dutch emigrants. He is a schooled electronic but his biggest love was nevertheless nature. He was particularly interested in butterflies and he collected a lot of them. His ideal was setting up a butterfly garden in which he succeeded in 1988 and it is seen as the largest in the world. Whenever you are into butterflies, you will automatically encounter passiflora’s as in the countries of origin they are used by many butterfly species to multiply themselves. Thus his interest to passiflora has arisen and also in this area he became a pioneer. On one of his excursions to Costa Rica he discovered a new passiflora, which has been named after him later on. Most special of P. Boenderi are the beautiful leaves while the flowers are of lesser beauty. Nevertheless certainly a type for real passiflora lovers.
